Frank studied theater science, pedagogy and German literary history, as well as No-theater with Yoshi Oida. From 1997 to 2002 he was engaged as a director at the Theater Lübeck, from 2003 to 2007 deputy director at the Theater Heilbronn. Since 2007 he has been in charge of norden-theaterproduction Hamburg and has been a lecturer in music theater directing and project manager at the HfMT Hamburg since 2009, where he also received the teaching award of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in 2015. Since 2009 he has been director of the KulturSommer am Kanal of the Duchy of Lauenburg Foundation and since 2014 curator of the Voice X New Music Theater festival in Hamburg, and since 2000 also a member of UNESCO ITI Germany.
